Natural elements evoke serenity and comfort

For this project, it was important to maintain design continuity with the facility’s recently renovated first floor, extending a sense of comfort and security to patients on the second floor as well.

As serenity is so commonly found in natural elements, our design team took cues from prominent features found on the first floor, including natural stone wall-cladding and a life-sized, dynamic tree sculpture. We echoed the stone wall surfaces at the main entry reception counter. Organic patterns and shapes in surrounding materials complement and soften the stone texture. Subdued color tones and artwork displaying local flora and fauna create a peaceful atmosphere. A custom-commissioned tree sculpture adds an unexpected visual treat at an otherwise neutral corridor intersection.

"A life-sized Aspen Tree sculpture located in the lobby on the first floor is a vibrant yet restful centerpiece, enjoyed by patients and staff alike. The client’s affection for its symbolism of the local mountain community inspired CDG to continue the integration of natural elements into the design of the second floor."
